On September 22, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) signed an EPC contract with Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) for the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Phase III intake, raw water pumping station, and pipeline project. This milestone marks a significant achievement for CMEC in deepening its presence in the Bangladeshi market. Located in Sonargaon, Dhaka, the project covers the design, procurement, and construction of a 950,000-ton water intake facility, a raw water pumping station, and a 26-kilometer-long raw water pipeline with a diameter of 2,200 mm.

At the signing ceremony, CMEC General Manager Fang Yanshui emphasized that the EPC consortium will coordinate all aspects of design, procurement, and construction, allocate high-quality resources, and strictly adhere to applicable standards and regulations to ensure timely delivery of the project with superior quality. Upon completion, the project will allow DWASA to supply safe and reliable water to around six million local residents through the new water treatment plant and distribution network.

After the signing ceremony, Fang engaged in extensive discussions with local government officials and representatives from the French Development Agency (AFD), KfW Development Bank, and European Investment Bank (EIB) in Bangladesh, focusing on the subsequent implementation of the project and the development of other related initiatives.
