The new parliament building of Zimbabwe, located in Mount Hampden and 20 kilometers west of Harare, serves as a symbol of modern development and international collaboration. Spanning a total construction area of approximately 33,000 square meters, the building comprises a four-story assembly hall and a six-story office space. Designed to meet the needs of Zimbabwe's parliament, its multifunctional facilities include spaces for meetings, offices and dining.

Blending the architectural style of "China-Zimbabwe integration" with the mountainous terrain, the structure exudes a majestic presence. The intelligent and modern conference facilities complement its grandeur. The Sixth Design and Research Institute of Mechanical Industry Co designed and managed the project, which was completed and officially handed over in October 2023.

Built on a 6-hectare site with a platform height difference of 25 meters, the design harmonizes with the natural topography. Drawing inspiration from Zimbabwe's traditional "concentric circle" layout, the historical "stone city", and the flowing lines of Victoria Falls, the building seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. This thoughtful design has transformed the new parliament building into a landmark that reflects both local heritage and modern innovation.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has lauded the building as one of the grandest in Zimbabwe and across Africa, highlighting its cultural integration, striking design, and exceptional construction quality. Describing it as a "precious gift from China", he praised the Chinese company for the project's speed and craftsmanship. 

Beyond its functional purpose, the new parliament building stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between China and Zimbabwe and represents a shared vision for progress and cooperation under the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
