CMECC helps China’s first shore power frequency converter debut

General contractor China Machinery Engineering and Construction Corporation (CMECC), an affiliate of Sinomach, recently completed the planned parts in North China’s Hebei province of China’s first shore power transformation and application project for the offshore cluster of oil fields.

The pilot project took four months, less than half the time building traditional oil and gas platforms would take. CMECC went all out to ensure the project’s smooth progress and was highly rated for its performance.

The shore power or shore supply is the provision of shore-side electrical power to a ship at berth while its main and auxiliary engines are shut down, an effective way of reducing air emissions and improving local air quality.

The project is designed to distribute high-voltage power from the land to the offshore platforms, changing their access to electricity and reducing their dependence on generators.

It will help boost the national three-year operation dubbed the Blue Sky Protection Campaign and the Action Plan for the Uphill Battles for Integrated Bohai Sea Management, and is of great strategic significance to China’s marine energy development.

CNEEC Zungeru Hydropower Station achieves program milestone

The Zungeru Hydropower Station in Nigeria, undertaken by Sinomach subsidiary China National Electric Engineering Co Ltd (CNEEC), recently lowered the sluice to store water on schedule, marking that the station installation is in full swing and laying a solid foundation for the plans to generate power from the first unit at the end of the year.

As the largest hydropower station in the country, the project will be able to supply power to two large cities like Abuja, capital of Nigeria, and will play an important role in easing the country’s power shortages and strengthening the stability and continuous power supply capacity of the local power grid. That in turn will meet the electricity demands of national economic development and improve people’s livelihoods.

CMCU to design a high-end equipment manufacturing industrial park in East China’s Shandong

China CMCU Engineering Corporation (CMCU), a subsidiary of Sinomach, recently won the bidding for a high-end equipment manufacturing industrial park in Heze city of East China’s Shandong province. The project, once completed, will help alleviate the current situation of insufficient production capacity of 7-series aluminum alloy in China.

This alloy is an ultra-high strength aluminum alloy widely used in the aircraft manufacturing industry since the late 1940s.

It is a key project for production and application of new materials at the provincial level involving construction of a high-strength aluminum alloy new material industrial park with independent intellectual property rights, in an effort to accelerate the professional, large-scale and market-oriented application of the patented technological achievements of high-strength aluminum alloy new materials.

IPPR to design new campus for Xinjiang Changji People’s Hospital

China IPPR International Engineering Co Ltd (IPPR) affiliated to Sinomach recently signed a design project for a new campus of a local hospital in Changji Hui autonomous prefecture, Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

The project, located in Changji city, the prefecture’s capital, will provide 2,000 beds in a construction area of 340,000 square meters. According to the modernized, intelligent and garden-style layout, it will be a state-level regional medical center in line with local situations. The hospital’s medical services will be extended to Central Asia based on key cities involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

This is another regional key medical project undertaken by IPPR in Xinjiang, and will inject momentum into the development of the medical industry there.
