The curtain fell on the 2020 China (Foshan) International Automobile Exhibition hosted by China National Machinery Industry International Co (Sinomachint), a subsidiary of Sinomach, and co-organized by Foshan Media Group on June 8. The expo attracted a total of 56,000 visitors, with 4,200 vehicles sold worth over one billion yuan in total.

The Foshan auto expo was the first offline exhibition held in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in the context of regular epidemic prevention and control, and also the first one in the GBA this year. It restarted the exhibition industry affected by the coronavirus epidemic in the region and injected momentum into the GBA’s modern service industries.

The expo had a total exhibition area of 30,000 square meters and 50 participating brand owners. Taking advantage of the reopening of the GBA’s exhibition industry, GAC Toyota, Dongfeng Honda, GAC Honda, Dongfeng Nissan and others expanded their exhibition area to 3,000 square meters.

Many new models made their debuts at the expo, showcasing the latest results in the field of automotive technology.

Considering the pandemic, various types of "cloud consumption" in China have grown rapidly, and accelerating pattern innovation and digital transformation is significant for the development of the exhibition industry.

This year’s expo, in addition to its offline displays, was available online as well, where visitors could identify their products of interest and go on to confirm their purchase at the brick-and-mortar venue, which greatly improved transaction efficiency. By the expo’s conclusion the online auto platform had attracted more than 800,000 visitors.

Sinomachint conducted emergency response exercises for epidemic prevention and control, learned the anti-epidemic measures from completed exhibitions nationwide and discussed the details of epidemic prevention planning with relevant parties many times, successfully ensuring the safety of the event.

The expo marked the full recovery of the conference and exhibition industry in the GBA, and also explored a new mode of hosting an exhibition in the presence of regular anti-epidemic measures.
